About Course

This course is designed for audiences and students who are interested to learn about the skills and workforce integration for immigrants in any country. The course content is designed as a prerequisite course for students who are interested to migrate to a foreign country from his/her native country. The course content is aimed to present in six lectures and each lecture comprises with 25 to 30 presentation slides. The lectures cover the different aspects of workforce skills, training and developments, skilled-based organization, requirements of skills to be migrated, why and how migration happen, the history and statistics on OECD countries migration and finally the workforce integration. The course will help the student to understand the real scenarios of the workplace, potential advantages and threats that are underlying in the process of pre and post migration to a country such as Canada. The course also gives an overview of the required skills some of which are mandatory and some of them are better to achieve in the career. This course is a must who are interested to immigrate to a foreign country so that they can well prepare themselves before taking the decision.

CL06: Become familiar and an in-depth understanding of the integration of immigrants’ skills.
CLO7: Become familiar with the basics of skilled labor requirements and skills needed to become a permanent resident.
CL08: Ability to map reasons for migrations and its impacts in life.
CL09: Ability to understand the statistics of migration, component, or process to meet the desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental and safety.
CL10: Ability to use techniques, skills and modern education tools necessary for life-long skills development practices.

About the instructor

<pre>Prof. Enamul Hossain (enamulh@nsric.ca; ceo@nsric.ca) is the CEO and President at NSRIC Inc. He is also the NSRIC Chair Professor in sustainable energy at the Engineering (ENG) Unit of OE Division. In addition to his current affiliation with NSRIC, he was also a Professor at the American University in Cairo (AUC), Egypt. In 28+ years of professional career, Dr. Hossain has a diversified and very rich record of teaching, research, business development, and technical achievements. Prior to his current position, he was holding different academic and administrative positions at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), Canada; Ryerson University, Canada; King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia; Dalhousie University, Canada; Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Oman; Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET), Bangladesh; and Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan. Prof. Hossain also worked in the oil industry for about ten years at different management levels. Prof. Hossain was the Managing Director, and Director for Aziza Consulting and Construction Ltd in Bangladesh, and BrightCoral, Canada respectively. He was the President of ANS Research and Development Inc., Canada. Moreover, he has adjunct Professor positions at many universities in the world and worked at different universities. He is recognized as one of the most successful researchers in petroleum engineering where he secured over US$16.9 million research funding. The funding agencies include Statoil, Saudi Aramco, NSTIP, NSERC, RDC, KFUM, MUN, and AUC. Prof. Hossain was the first Statoil Chair Professor at Memorial University in Canada. Prof. Hossain earned a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1995, and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from a collaboration between University of Alberta and BUET in 2001. Dr. Hossain was awarded PhD in Petroleum Engineering in 2008 and a MBA degree in 2009 both at Dalhousie University, Canada. Prof. Hossain’s main contribution to the industry is the introduction for the first-time memory concept for a petroleum application. Prof. Hossain is the Chairman of a Charitable organization, Aziza Trust since 2009 through which he is serving the mankind. This philanthropist scholar and philosopher authored ten books on different areas in petroleum engineering with Elsevier, and Wiley and Scrivener Publishing, USA. He authored/co-authored over 200+ research articles. In addition, Prof. Hossain has 11 US patents some of which are in the process of commercialization state.</pre>
