Cecile Roberta Clayton (ceciler@nsric.ca) is the Professor of Practice in area of Marketing at Commerce and Management Unit of OE Division. She is also the Country Manager (Marketing) for Jamaica at Marketing Division, NSRIC. Since her graduation from The UWI in 1969, Cecile Clayton has been employed in only four places – first as a teacher of English in Germany, then with the Organisation Committee for the XX Olympic Games in Munich, followed by a 20-year stint with the Jamaica Foreign Service as a Diplomat, from 1972 until 1992, when she joined the staff of The UWI, at the invitation of then Vice-Chancellor Sir Alister McIntyre − initially as Alumni Relations Manager and subsequently as Senior Assistant Registrar in the Office of Administration. She capped her career at UWI with her appointment, in 2008, as Deputy University Registrar. Among her responsibilities in that capacity was the production of the Vice-Chancellor’s annual report to Council, which honed her skills as an Editor.
Retired from The UWI since 2014, Cecile has made good use of the experience gained both at The UWI and from a course in publication taken in 2010 at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada, and freelances as an Editor. Cecile is immediate Past President of the UWI Alumni Association (Jamaica Chapter) and a former President of the Jamaican-German Society, having served in that capacity from 2009 – 2012.
