
Dr. Muhammad A Muqeem
Dr. Muhammad Muqeem is the distinguished faculty member of the online education division at NSRIC. He worked in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years involving conventional and underbalanced drilling (UBD), casing drilling, with both jointed-pipe and coil-tubing, sandstone and fractured carbonates, well testing, stimulation, reservoir engineering, project management and mentoring. He recently worked at Saudi Aramco as a Drilling Engineering Consultant leading a diverse group of specialists in the drilling and workover organization within Saudi Aramco. He was the technology champion for Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) and Underbalanced Drilling in Saudi Aramco. Furthermore, he was instrumental in the deployment of UBD for the first time in Saudi Aramco. He was a SPE Distinguished Lecturer and toured Europe and Asia to lecture on MPD experiences and way forward topics.

Aside from his industrial experiences, he performed research and lectured at various places that included Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), King Fahd University of Petroleum and Mineral (KFUPM), King Saud University, University of Calgary and Petroleum Recovery Institute in Calgary. He has filed two patents while at Saudi Aramco and co-authored a book on UBD which was published by Gulf Publishing. Furthermore, he has authored and co-authored many technical papers and presented them at various SPE/IADC conferences on such diverse topics that included multiphase flow, wellbore hydraulics, casing drilling, cementing stage tools, UBD and MPD.
