
Dr. Shofiur Rahman
Dr. Shofiur Rahman (at srahman@nsric.ca) is the senior faculty of NSRIC Online education division and one of the lead researchers of our RID division. He works with Professors Paris Georghiou and Luc Beaulieu on the synthesis of functionalized calixarenes which can be applied to cantilever sensors for the detection of heavy metals in freshwater for the application of environmental monitoring. Before joining Memorial University, he worked at the National Institute for Nanotechnology (NINT), University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.  Dr. Rahman has 20+ years of experience at King Abdullah Institute for Nanotechnology, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia; Saga University, Japan; Memorial University, Canada, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Bangladesh.
He published over 56 research papers with his colleagues in peer-reviewed international journals. His research interests are in the area of supramolecular chemistry, computational chemistry, chemical sensors, organic synthesis, host-guest chemistry, materials sciences, ionic liquids, extractive desulphurization and bio-oil.
