
Mr. Prem Nandlal
Mr. Prem Nandlal (premn@nsric.ca) is the Professor of Practice in the area of Geology at the Geology and Geography Unit of OE Division, NSRIC. Prem Nandlal is an Industrial Chemist with 50+ years of extensive experience in the downstream Energy (Oil and Natural Gas) Industry in the fields of Refining, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain Logistics. He held senior executive positions in energy diversified companies, leading diversified teams in the public and private sectors, achieving shareholders expectations and profitability. He served as director of various state-owned companies in the Regulatory fields of Environment Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Standards and Metrology, Skills Development, and Fleet Management. His research areas are in materials hazards in bulk (DRI) ocean vessels over long distances. At the University of Trinidad and Tobago, he was engaged in project management of various pilot plants, resulting in the successful conversion of Natural Gas to Single Cell Animal Feed Protein. He also developed and managed Renewable Energy Development projects in Solar off-grid housing, wind turbines, and fully electric vehicles (bus). Presently he is active in carbon intensity reduction in two NGOs in carbon capture use and storage – CCUS. He is the industry liaison for the Chemistry Department of UWI St Augustine.

For his long and meritorious public service contribution to the energy industry in Trinidad and Tobago, he was awarded the Trinidad and Tobago National Award, Medal of Merit, Gold, in 2018.
