Course Description:

This is a 3 credit hourse Cerftifcate course recognised globally and taught by top media professionals. The course is free and Students will pay only 300 US dollars as registration fee. This course is  designed to strengthen the capacity of new broadcast journalists to research and report for broadcast in an effective and ethical manners. The course is intended to explore the art of audio production, essential tools, techniques and acronyms used in the broadcast industry. Besides, the course shall impart students the difference between Broadcast, Non Broadcast, and Narrowcast, traditional and new media environment. The course will provide Comprehensive knowledge about the recent shift of broadcast media from Terrestrial network to DTH (is an encrypted transmission) and web-based technology, which includes the use of DTT, HDTV, IPTV, DAB, DRM, Webcasting.The course introduces the students the essential `equipment, studio acoustic system and techniques used in the production process. Practical Work Include: Production of Podcasting, Audio Documentary (Non-Fictional) PSM (Public service message, Radio Reports, News Commentary, Curtain Raiser, Interviews, Discussion and special audience programme. (Max duration: 10 minutes)

Prof. Muhammad Ahmad Sheikh is the Professor of Practice in Journalism at Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) Unit of OE Division, NSRIC. Prof. Sheikh ranked as one of the top media specialist in the country with 37 years of extensive experience in Program planning, Radio Production and reporting within the country and abroad. Mr. Sheikh has 15 years teaching experience of advanced media studies, open source journalism and spectrum trading at National and International Universities. Bi-Media professional Mr. Sheikh achieved four gold medals and 3-excellence awards in various fields of radio production (Documentary, National Hook-ups and Drama Production). He served as PBC representative in UK for 3 years and participated in International conferences. He was nominated media representative of Messe Dusseldorf, Germany by the German Government in 2010. He also served as Head of World Cup Cricket, 1999 staged in England. As a PBC and Mediacon international correspondent Mr. Sheikh covered many events (Live) from USA, UK, South Africa Saudi Arabia UAE and SriLanka. Elected a member of Board of Studies of all two major universities of Pakistan. (University of Central Punjab & University of Lahore). He is also a regular contributor as an analyst ot international media. (VOA, CIR, PBC and ACC.PK)

Prof. Sheikh supervised 35 student’s documentaries of BSMMC and MPhil Professional Track and 15 research peppers. Ahmad Sheikh is a pioneer of FM culture in Pakistan and started transmission of FM 101 and installed 4 subject FM stations.in the country. He served as Head of National Broadcast Services, Head of Central Production Unit, and Deputy Controller Home services during the period 2006-2010. He also served as HOD, UCP FM Radio and Assistant Professor in SMCS (School of Media and Communication Studies).UCP for 2-years.

He earned distinction (Gold Medal) in MPhil in media management. Besides he holds master’s degree In English Language and Literature and political science from the University of Punjab, Advance Media studies from the London School of Journalism and News Production from Surrey University Guildford UK.
