NSRIC International School in Toronto (NIST)

The NSRIC International School in Toronto (NIST) offers a Canadian curricular-based Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) Program (Gr. 9 – 12). The OSSD is a diploma certificate granted to secondary school graduates after successful completion of Gr. 9 to 12 required courses in Ontario, Canada.

OSSD Graduation Criteria

30 Total Credits
Compulsory Credits: 18 Required Courses
Elective Credits: 12 Optional Courses
Community Hours: 40 Volunteer Hours
Literacy Requirement: OSSLT or OSSLC Course

Canadian Accredited Secondary School Education

OSSD is part of the NIST School program which is a publicly-funded province-wide school system for government schools. It is awarded to all students who complete the Ontario education curriculum, including NIST Home school students.

The NIST secondary (i.e., High) school education program allows students to graduate with a Canadian accredited diploma from the Ontario Ministry of Education which is OSSD. In accordance with our vision of disseminating knowledge to others, NIST wishes to execute this vision to the global market by offering students all around the world a strong educational foundation through a Canadian high school diploma.

Our graduates are highly successful in their pursuit of higher education in universities and colleges across the globe, including North America, Europe, and Australia. Our students pride themselves on successfully completing a journey of one of the richest curricula offered in a global context.

Grades 9 – 12 Pathways

OSSD High School Credit Progression

Grade 9 (Foundations) 8 Credits

English (ENG1D), Principles of Mathematics (MTH1W), Science (SNC1W), Canadian Geography (CGC1D), French, and Visual Arts/Music electives.

Grade 10 (Core Mastery) 8 Credits

English (ENG2D), Principles of Math (MPM2D), Science (SNC2D), Canadian History (CHC2D), Civics & Career Studies (CHV2O/GLC2O), and OSSLT preparation.

Grade 11 (Specialization) 7 Credits

Functions (MCR3U), Physics (SPH3U), Chemistry (SCH3U), Biology (SBI3U), Financial Accounting (BAF3M), Computer Science (ICS3U), and English (ENG3U).

Grade 12 (University Prep) 6–7 Credits

Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus & Vectors (MCV4U), English (ENG4U), Grade 12 Sciences (4U), Business Leadership (BOH4M), and OUAC/Common App counseling.
