Dr. Mansur Mulk is the Head of Department in area of Biomedical Engineering at Engineering Unit of OE Division. He is also the Senior Faculty in Biomedical Engineering at Engineering (ENG) Unit of OE Division, NSRIC. Dr. Mansur Mulk has lived and breathed the philosophy of the Biomechanics since the day he came to Western University. Mansur Mulk is a biomedical engineer with expertise in the material characterization for the development of artificial organ. Dr. Mulk’s research program focuses on development of new methods and systems for material characterization using inverse analysis. Dr. Mansur Mulk received his B.Sc. degree from The University of Western Ontario and M.Sc. degree from The University of Western Ontario. He received his Ph.D. degree from The University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada. In 2018, he joined the Mohawk College where he is currently a professor. He holds a joint faculty position in the Departments of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science and Information Technology. He is also a faculty member in the faculty of applied science and technology (FAST) and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology (MEET) at Sheridan College. Dr. Mulk’s main area of research is developing new “techniques for material characterization” for environmentally friendly and alternative human donor organ. He is working to developing new areas in basic science and applying them to real world applications.
He formed PVA gels using techniques in polymer synthesis, self-assembly and particle design have applications in many areas in biomedical applications. In collaboration with surgeons, orthopedic biomechanical research will be conducted with special interest in the artificial organ development.
