Dr. Antony M. Mbithi is the Head of Department in area of Political Science at Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Unit. He is also the Junior Faculty in area of Political Science at Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (LAS) Unit of OE Division, NSRIC. Antony Mbithi received his Ph.D. in Policy Studies (Development Economics and Global Governance) from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Tokyo, Japan. Master of Development Economics Policy, from the Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management in South Korea, and a B.A in International Studies, from the University of Nairobi, with a First-class Honors. During his college years, he spent two years of humanitarian work in South Africa and Swaziland. He has extensive work experience in public and private sectors, such as the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis and Thousand Cities Strategic Algorithms in Shenzhen, China. Currently, he is the East African Research Manager for Education Sub-Saharan Africa, working on reforming higher education in Africa. He employs rigorous empirical methodologies on big data to work on current and pressing social, political, and economic issues, focusing on Development Economics and Economics of Innovation. His teaching philosophy is premised on motivating his students to see the big picture and enjoy learning.
He has presented his work in top international conferences such as the Conference on Empirical Legal Studies at Clairemont Mckenna College, California, and the Japanese Association of Development Economics in Tokyo, Japan.
