Dr. Moniruzzaman Khan is Junior Faculty in area of Chemical Engineering at Engineering Unit of OE Division. He is also an Associate Vice-President (AVP) in K12 School Unit and Marketing Executive at Marketing Division, NSRIC. He is a pioneer of zero-waste engineering. He received his PhD from University of Alberta. In his 20 years of professional career, he taught in Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) and held several research positions with government and industry funded projects such as the Atlantic Innovation Fund, NSERC, Canadian Centre for Clean Carbon and Mineral Processing Technologies (CMPT) and Future Energy System on the topics of sustainable development, greenhouse gas mitigation, CO2 capture and sequestration, coal and biomass gasification, pyrolysis, and liquefaction. For the technical perspective, Dr Khan has very rich experience in i) instruments such as gas chromatograph (GC), GC-MS, Mercury Analyzer, Thermogravimetric Analysis, Autosorb iQ, scanning electron microscope, Image Analyzer, Raman Spectroscopy etc. and ii) experimental equipment such as entrained flow reactor, fluidized bed reactor, parr reactor, low temperature plasma asher, horizontal and vertical tube furnace. He also has expertise with different software tools (ASPEN PLUS, ASPEN HYSIS, PROMAX, VMGSim, and FORTRAN).
Dr. Khan has co-authored dozens of research publications and five books on the topics of energy and the environment. He is a professional engineer, registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geophysicists of Alberta.
